Hi everyone,
The construction of new lion habitat is finally completed. Bobo (green
T-shirt in pictures) is a lead volunteer with over 500 hours worked at the
Dushanbe Zoo working on different projects: installation of volunteer
center room, painting the habitats of exotic animals, working on
playground area, improving the wild pigs habitat, creating the new lions'
habitat, and working on the garden area preparation. He is a hard worker and
now has many skills to share with other volunteers.
Enjoy the pictures!

Dear Lori and others,
You are doing a great job in Dushanbe ZOO. We live here already for about 3.5 years and go there weekly, even several times a week as my kids love to feed the animals :-), which they cannot do back at home...Anyway, I would like to ask you if you know where the baby lions disappeared from their new nice enclosure. We have noticed that quite a few interesting animals are disappearing (i.e. crocs) and not many new ones are appearing. Also would not it be easier to sell/get rid of some of the 26 bears they keep in such a conditions that one would rather cry. One of the bears is already mad and does nothing else then swings his head from side to side...
I used to volunteer ion several Western type of ZOOs and have some idea, how to improve this little ZOO, but do not know with whom to talk about it. It would not be things that require much money, but rather things that would/could bring some so much needed money for developing this little ZOO. For example, my kids are dying to have a donkey/pony ride and yet, there is nothing. If there could be a camel ride or photos on a camel, I am sure that there would be a big crowd too and how about llama ride/photo possibility (like in Almaaty ZOO. All these small and easily done things could bring more funds for the ZOO too.
